An admiral is the commander of a fleet. In the US Navy, admiral is one of the highest ranks. The military is full of rankings like captain, private, major and corporal. Admiral is a ranking specific to the navy. A captain typically oversees one ship. An admiral leads a few ships known as a fleet.

When you’re in charge of hosting and managing the countless details of an event or a party, it may feel like you have “a lot of boats in the water.” There are many things to consider and your punch list of items to check off may have you screaming “All hands on deck!”

“There’s truly nothing like it on the waterfront,” explains Hotel General Manager Bill Fitzgerald, “People really seem to like the fact that they can come into the city and park without a problem. Folks also love to ‘make a weekend out it’ by reserving a guest room and enjoying all of the walkable destinations from our front door like seasonal activities on Penn’s Landing (Summerfest, The Seaport Museum and Spruce Street Harbor Park) and Philadelphia’s historical district (art galleries, museums great Old City alfresco restaurants and coffee bars). Great parties tend to turn into great weekends with lots of memories,” he added.

Ideal for intimate social gatherings from 15 to 70 attendees, planners can choose an elegant buffet-style menu or a more formal, sit-down platted option. A hand-crafted cocktail station can easily be stationed in the room, adding a classic touch. Various beverage package options are available in order to maximize your overall budget.

“While our private dining room has it’s very own competitively priced Special Events Menu, I often customize the menu to meet the palate preferences and the budgets of various clients,” said Gary Abramson, Catering Sales Manager, “Many people turn to me bringing the entire party concept together – and I’m happy to help. Because of our established long-term relationships with reliable preferred bakeries, florists and decorators we’re able to reassure clients and leverage the most reliable and cost-effective options in the area. To be honest, my favorite part of the job is knowing that I’m taking care of our clients’ needs which often extends beyond food and beverage selections,” he added.

“Admiral’s Quarters is a hit with all generations,” said Gary, “Those who may be ‘young at heart’ especially like the convenience of valet parking and not having to get on an escalator or elevator to get to their seat. Guests do not have to walk through the entire restaurant to get to Admiral’s Quarters. Restrooms are conveniently nearby as well. Our main goal is to deliver on a truly memorable experience because at the end of the day, every event is special and meaningful and takes on its own personality.”

“During week days, Admiral’s Lounge is sometimes used to host lunch for our business audience,” explained Alan Cagle, Director of Food and Beverage at the Hilton Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing. “We just recently debuted emc3 which is the hotel’s completely reimagined and renovated executive meeting center which encompasses the entire third floor. We found that our corporate audience really enjoyed stretching their legs and enjoying a change of scenery to break up the day. The room has a recessed screen for presentations and also has sound proofing.”

Brides and grooms often book a romantic anniversary evening at Rope & Anchor in the main dining room to relive the magic and the memories of a rehearsal dinner or a post-wedding bash. It’s a nostalgic way to reflect and reminisce about life’s milestones, surrounded by the company of friends and family.

We think Admiral’s Quarters is top notch, but sometimes it’s best to read sentiments sent by folks who have recently elected to celebrate a momentous occasion with us!

Dear Gary, The weekend was a huge success. From check-in thru check-out, everything went well. The lunch was wonderful! The food was excellent and bounteous; the staff (Ty and Chai)      were friendly, professional, and very attentive. My father had a great time – and that was the purpose for all of this…Thank you so much, I hope to meet you during my next trip to Philly.  All the best, Frederick Friedman, Jr., MD
